Heritage Relief Wallpaper Repair and Restoration

Following the popularity of Lincrusta, which was introduced in 1877, similar products quickly came to market. Anaglypta, alongside other similar high and low relief wallcoverings of the time, include Cameoid, Lignomur and Cordelova, which are still found in historical properties today. Below you can see a Lignomur dado panel dating from the early 1900’s, which Frank was able to replicate and extend across a blocked up doorway following renovations. The historical dado runs through all 3 storeys of this Victorian home and otherwise remained in great condition.

Lincrusta Water Damage Repairs

Frank has had the privilege of working in some wonderful Georgian and Victorian properties. Sadly, in the examples below, water penetration from above going un-noticed is the cause of the problem here, with moisture becoming trapped behind the Lincrusta. Fortunately, these designs are still currently available so Frank was able to remove the loosened, damaged areas, make the area good, and replace those parts with new pieces - repainted and restored to former glory.

Small Decorative Coving Repairs

This beautiful ornate coving dating to around 1880 was damaged during renovations, when overzealous electricians accidentally broke through when working in the room above.

Frank was able to take moulds from undamaged areas to make replacement ornate pieces to blend in with the original coving - happy clients and relieved electricians!

Bringing a Heritage Lincrusta Design Back to Life!

Frank was privileged to be asked by Helena Brazil, of Lincrusta Heritage, to assist with re-creating a historic Lincrusta border for this on-going Victorian dining car restoration for the LNER Coach Association. When this restoration is fully completed the dining car will run on the North Yorks Heritage Railway and we look forward to visiting again in due course!
