Lincrusta Dado Panel Installation

Perfect For Adding Classic Styling

Dado panels and friezes are perfect for adding classic styling to elegantly proportioned interiors. Before installing dado panels, consider the traffic in the area – hallways and stairs will obviously need to take more wear and tear than perhaps the lounge, so choosing the right dado wallpaper for longevity is paramount. Lincrusta is incredibly durable as it cures with age. We’ve seen some fine examples that are over 130 years old – not a bad investment in the long run!

Lincrusta Dado Panels are currently available in 4 designs – Art Nouveau, Edwardian, Gothic, and Seville, although many of the Lincrusta wallcoverings are also suitable for below a dado. Frank can also paint your Lincrusta after installation – choose your own colour palette – and with optional added highlights or decorative effects the possibilities are endless!

We also take special commissions to re-produce heritage designs from our archives.

Lincrusta Water Damage Repairs

Lincrusta Wall and Ceiling Coverings

Frank has had the privilege of working in some wonderful Georgian and Victorian properties. Sadly, in the examples below, water penetration from above going un-noticed is the cause of the probem here, with moisture becoming trapped behind the Lincrusta. Fortunately, these designs are still currently available so Frank was able to remove the loosened, damaged areas, make the area good, and replace those parts with new pieces – repainted and restored to former glory.

heritage Relief Wallpaper REpair and Restoration

An Early 1900s Lignomur Dado Panel

Following the popularity of Lincrusta, which was introduced in 1877, similar products came to market. Anaglypta, alongside other similar high and low relief wallcoverings of the time, include Cameoid, Lignomur and Cordelova, which are still found in period properties today.

Below you can see a Lignomur dado panel dating from the early 1900s. Frank made a mould in situ then replicated panels as needed to extend the missing dado panelling across a blocked up doorway following home remodelling. The vintage dado running through all 3 storeys of this Victorian home otherwise remains in great condition and now it is repainted to tie together old and new.
