Looking Forward

A heritage decorating & restoration specialist

Frank Holmes Fine Decor has evolved into heritage raised relief wallpaper specialists with Frank and Amanda both being active members of the Wallpaper History Society. Together we continue on an exciting journey of discovery, with a greater appreciation for the history of  British-made raised relief wallpapers and the craftsmanship of the original designers.

We are passionate about saving and restoring vintage designs that are no longer in production, and sharing what we’ve learned with new generations of  Victorian and Edwardian homeowners keen to restore or re-instate original features. Frank loves bringing original features back to former glory. He is able to make moulds and replicate discontinued Lincrusta and Anaglypta patterns for making repairs or to restore period features. Amanda searches through our archives to find information for our clients. We research the original catalogue image and sometimes can even name the original artist.

In recent years we’ve worked on some fantastic renovation projects including the restoration of  heritage Lincrusta designs at a Victorian Town Hall, the reinstatement of stunning Art Nouveau Anaglypta dado panelling first exhibited at the Paris International Exposition 1900, and repairing and refinishing several historic Tynecastle Tapestry embossed canvas wallpapers at Langdale Chase Hotel, Windermere. More exciting restoration projects are in the pipeline, enabling us to specialise more, which is very satisfying!

Most recently, Frank Holmes Fine Decor co-founded and organised the first Home Interiors & Renovation Exhibition (HIRE Cumbria) in March 2025. This two-day event aimed at discerning homeowners and property developers, brings together the incredible craftsmanship from across our region – innovative designers, furniture makers, specialist trades and more from in and around Cumbria all under one roof. The show returns on 20-21 March 2026 at The Castle Green Hotel, Kendal – more information coming soon!
